Patio covers that make the yard usable from October to April
We build aluminum and wood patio covers over decks, patios and hot tubs across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, so the space you paid for gets used in the rain, not just in July.

In the Tri-Cities a patio cover adds more usable months to a backyard than anything else you can build. Most of our covers are aluminum with clear or tinted polycarbonate or solid insulated roof panels: no rot, no painting, and they let light into the house. For a warmer look we build timber-frame covers with cedar posts and beams, and we can add lighting, heaters and privacy screens.
A cover is a structure, so it has to be designed for our snow and wind loads, anchored to proper footings or to a deck that can carry the weight, and flashed so water doesn't get behind the house siding. Covered structures usually need a building permit; we confirm what your project needs at the site visit and handle the drawings and inspections.

How the job runs
Site visit
We look at the space, the house wall, drainage and whether an existing deck can carry a cover.
Design and permit
Size, roof panel, post layout and finish. We confirm permit needs and prepare drawings when required.
Footings and frame
Posts set on proper footings, beams installed and the ledger flashed into the house wall.
Roof and finishing
Roof panels, gutters and downspouts tied into drainage, then lights and trim.

Questions we get asked
Do I need a permit for a patio cover in Coquitlam?
Most covered structures need a building permit, depending on size and how the cover attaches to the house. We confirm the requirements for your property and handle the permit when one is needed.
Aluminum or wood patio cover?
Aluminum needs almost no maintenance and lets light through with clear panels. Wood has a warmer, custom look but needs sealing over time. Many clients pick aluminum for over decks next to the house and wood for standalone covers.
Can you put a cover over my existing deck?
Often, yes, if the deck framing and footings can carry the load. We check the structure first and reinforce it where needed.
Will a patio cover make my house darker?
Not with clear or tinted polycarbonate panels, which let most of the daylight through. Solid insulated panels block more light but keep the space cooler in summer.
