Built to the local rules
Each Tri-Cities municipality sets its own limits for walls and trees. We check them at the first site visit so permits don’t catch you off guard.
Coquitlam
Retaining walls over 1.2 m need a building permit and an engineered design. No wall may exceed 2.4 m. Trees 20 cm and up (measured at 1.4 m) are protected; two removals a year are allowed without a permit on most lots.
Port Coquitlam
Every tree removal needs a replacement tree, and a significant tree needs two. The permit application has to include an approved replacement plan.
Port Moody
Tree permits apply to most trees 30 cm and up, and 10 cm and up in sensitive or riparian areas. Removals from March 1 to August 31 may need a nesting survey.

Book a site visit before spring fills up
Fall and winter are the best time to plan walls, drainage and decks. You see exactly where the water goes, and you're first on the schedule when the dry weather arrives.
